Fredda Hamilton

Fredda Hamilton began her career as a religious school director in Portland, Maine in 1979. Over the past 20 years, she has directed several Jewish Education programs in the Boston area, including Reform, Conservative, community, and Hebrew High schools. A 1973 graduate of Barnard College, Fredda went on to earn a Montessori certificate from Farleigh Dickenson University in 1974. She was class valedictorian at Hebrew College in Brookline in 1986, when she received her Masters of Jewish Education. Since that time, she has participated in many principal certificate programs and seminars for Jewish educators. In addition to her degree, she holds the title of Reform Jewish Educator and is a recipient of the prestigious Louis Hillson Memorial Prize for Achievement in Jewish Education.

For many years Fredda has served as a workshop leader and staff development consultant. She is one of the local pioneers of family education, working with the Greater Boston Bureau of Jewish education to develop various curricular materials, including the Parent Connection reading program. Many area schools use this program. . She has served on the board of the Rashi School, and has chaired local teacher education conferences for both the Reform and Conservative movements.

At Temple Beth Sholom, Fredda works with the congregation to create a Religious School environment that integrates study and life experience, where children enjoy learning. This approach begins with a child-centered curriculum in every grade. It also includes family education and parent/child study programs that empower parents to effectively partner with the school in their children's Jewish education, as well as community building activities for all participants.

Fredda lives with her husband Richard in Natick.
