September/October 2017

As Summer 2017 winds to a close, I take a look back at what we accomplished during these past few months: The building certainly looks different on both the inside and outside; new carpeting was laid in the lobby, hallway, coat room, the Rabbi’s office, and best of all, the sanctuary. Our Kehilla has that new car smell. We also got lots of painting done on the main level and the light bulbs were upgraded throughout the building to be more energy efficient. Thanks so much to Richard Diamond and his clean-up crew who beautified the outside grounds. Also, the two outside benches were replaced with more modern looking ones. Lastly, the Gail Fisher memorial “flower garden” is being completely updated in an attempt to get back to the original Jewish Star design that was first used to memorialize Gail.

As we enter into the next fiscal year, Ed Kane and the House committee are looking to repair the runners on all the staircases to make the building safer for the students.

At the June congregational meeting we elected/voted in four new Board of Trustee members. I’d like to welcome Beth Barach, Ed Kane, Dinah Moeller, and Juan Rivera to the Board.   We look forward to your fresh views and ideas!

Please make sure to attend our Temple Beth Sholom Open House on Friday, September 8^th at 5:30pm when we will welcome non-members into our Kehilla and invite them to services.

There are plenty of programs coming as well.   In addition to more congregational dinners we have a Marlin Studio Art Auction coming on Sunday, October 22^nd, 4-8pm.   This will be our largest fundraiser for the year.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the High Holidays.
