April 2018

As Passover is in full swing, I’m hoping the difficulties with the snow are behind us.  I cannot remember a time when we had to cancel both our Friday evening and Shabbat morning services ever before.   As a result, we had to postpone our Weekend of Learning with Dr. Michael Satlow.   The new dates are May 11th-12th.

If you’ve been to the Temple since the storm you can see the many large trees that have fallen on the property.  Amazingly, they all fell towards the middle versus the parking lot.  The blizzard certainly depleted any surplus we were hoping to have in our snow plowing budget.  We also have to use our Repairs and Maintenance funds to clean up the area for the Spring.

I’m confident the House committee will work with Hawkeye Landscaping to get the area cleaned up as soon as possible.

In addition to those budget items being stressed, the final numbers for our Strength-to-Strength Campaign came in just under $3,000 shy of our $115,000 budgeted number.   So, if you haven’t given yet, please go now to donate or consider donating again.

Lastly, per our by-laws, the Nominating Committee was supposed to have a slate of new officers to the Recording Secretary on March 15th.  We are having challenges filling some of the spots on the Executive Board.  If you’ve served on the Board of Trustees previously and would like to be part of our very exciting future; please consider contacting the chairperson, John Herrera at (781) 888-7740.  The future of our Temple depends on volunteers!

Hag Pesach Sameach!
